Eat, Drink & Be Happy in Hyde Park

Client is a leading economic development organization with a sizeable footprint in Chicago lakefront south communities.  The shop local strategy employed by the client is designed to unite local businesses with the community under the brand and to encourage residents and visitors to spend within the neighborhood, and intentionally with small businesses.

The Challenge

The client seeks concepts that can help promote “shopping local” in the business district of Hyde Park. The message must be visible quickly for vehicular traffic and should include a call to action or engagement for pedestrian traffic. Image cannot be distracting or shocking to drivers that stalls traffic or causes an accident.  Images of people must be diverse. Th graphic should be visually eye-catching while engaging the audience about what the area has to offer.
 
Design branded billboard that is located centrally in the district with high local pedestrian and vehicular traffic. The billboard averages more than 5,000 views per day.
 
Design must be scalable to the billboard size:  9.16 feet wide x 13.75 feet tall
 
This project requires a 4-week timeline with installation in late October each year.

The Solution

CEI Media Group is currently the principal brand designer for the Client and understands the mission, objectives, requirements and community nuisances.
 
Our in-house creative team developed and presented multiple concepts:
  • “EAT, DRINK, BE HAPPY”
  • “EARN IT, SAVE IT, SPEND IT”
  • “CERTIFIED SHOPPING SEASON”
  • “SHOPPER’S GUIDE COVER GIRL”
Any concept that is approved is authorized for production.

The Result

CEI Media Group has successfully delivered this project on multiple occasions over six years. CEI Media Group facilitates the order and delivery and ultimately oversees the installation.
 
The process timeline:
  • Up to 7 days from content preparation and concept development.
  • 1-2 days for adjustments if needed for final approved art.
  • 5-7 days for commercial printing (locally)
  • approximately 14 days before installation.
Since its first installation, CEI Media Group has been the exclusive designer for ads placed on this billboard.
